Nameless Poem

Hello!

This is my first time making a blog post. I'm a Lolita from the southern US, thus the name "Southern Gothic Lolita." If you've discovered my blog and are reading it, it's nice to meet you! My plan is to use this blog as a way to talk about one of my favorite things in the world: Lolita Fashion!

With my first post, I wanted to talk about my current favorite winter one-piece: the Nameless Poem OP by the Indie Lolita Brand Ista Mori. This is the only op I currently own - but I find myself reaching for it so often! It is so comfortable, from the neck to the waist to the sleeves, nothing is too loose or too tight, and after 20ish wears it has no signs of wear and tear - no stretching, fading/bleeding and no loose threads! And I just machine wash it!

Today marks almost my 1-year anniversary of purchasing this dress, I purchased it on Depop on January 30th, 2023! I purchased it for $77.55, which I found to be a very reasonable price based on various secondhand listings I have seen for the dress over the years.

One of my favorite things about the dress is the removable collar. The dress comes with a collar that clasps with one button at the neck, which has two triangle flaps in the front and a square flap in the back. It's so cute! The whole thing is trimmed in lace, and it is white with a black cross embroidered on the front left flap. I love wearing the dress with and without this collar for a variety of styling options.

Some other details of the dress that are worth mentioning are: the belt, which is a strip of black fabric with silver-grey crosses embroidered on each end. This belt is also detachable, and I have enjoyed wearing the dress with and without the belt for a variety of styling options!

The wrist cuffs of the dress are also quite lovely, each have a black cross embroidered on them. One of the other beautiful details on this dress is the silver-grey crosses embroidered as a boarder around the hem. There is also black lace trimming the hem, adding another touch of elegance.

The dress itself is 100% polyester, which I do worry causes it to have a bit of a costume-y sheen.

This dress was released in 2014, and it comes in several colors, with black by far being the most popular. I am also partial to the red and green colorways, and the white x black (similar to the one I own, just inverted). I also love the beret that was released as part of the Nameless Poem set.

Overall, religious motifs are one of my favorite motifs in Lolita fashion,     and this dress captures that in such a perfect yet simplistic way. From        the crosses, to the nun-inspired collar, to the boarder lace that is                reminiscent of gothic windows.

Style-wise I have found that while not much can go under it, layering over it gives many opportunities to be creative (see picture to the left, where I put a lace jacket over it). I often style it with a rosary, very much leaning into the religious theme. But recently, (and in several pictures in this post), you can see how I styled it with the Angelic Pretty Marshmallow Ghost Bag, which has really opened up a more ghostly      way of styling it!

I'm excited for what's in store for me this year as a Lolita, I can't wait to learn even more about the fashion, and wear even more beautiful things, and have beautiful experiences!
