Cherry & Check

 Hello!

Today I want to talk about one of my dream EGL items. Or rather, item(s), since it's a whole series that I'm absolutely in love with.

This little slideshow is the result of me scouring the internet for any images and information about this series that I could find! I searched in all the regular places, and even attempted to see if the Jane Marple website from 1996 was on the Wayback Machine. Now that I'm typing this, it occurs to me that maybe the brand didn't even have a website back then (!!) The earliest archive I was able to find of the JM website was 2001, so that's probably the year the website was made (?)

Without further ado, please enjoy this deep dive into the Cherry & Check series, released in 1996 by Jane Marple!!

The colorways for this series are especially interesting, mostly because I was able to find examples of all of them except for "Offwhite." This makes me wonder if Offwhite was listed on Lolibrary as an accident (?) Of course the other option is that Offwhite versions of items from this series are just excessively rare.

The next few slides go into the specifics of each item in the series. All info was found on Lolibrary, aside from a few images that come from old for-sale listings.

I would say that my favorite colorways in this series are the Pink and Red. My favorite items in this series are the JSK and the Long Skirt. However, I love all the items and all the colorways (the cherry trim just makes my heart skip a beat!! Combining that with gingham, like, come on!!! />__<\).

The "Previous Sales" slide is included because 1. It's a great reference for how often this series comes up secondhand (seemingly not that often), 2. These listings provided more reference images of what the items in the series look like. More angles, more colorways!, 3. These sales are also a good way to get an idea of how much this series has historically gone for secondhand. The skirt went for $33, and the umbrella went for the USD equivalent of $33 as well!

My heart longs for this series ... it may be months or years, but I feel sure I'll own item(s) from it someday! It was so much fun gathering all this info - I'm sure there's even more info out there regarding this series! Perhaps there's advertisements featuring these items? Or more currently active lolitas who own items from this series, who are coording it in cool and fun ways! I'd absolutely love to see that..!
